Joyce is a senior property manager, young mum, eldest daughter, sister and family organiser, constantly moving between work, caregiving and cultural expectations. Her days begin early and end late, filled with clients, family responsibilities and maintaining connections across borders.

Like many dual-earner, dual-carers, she is grateful for family support while quietly carrying an invisible load that no job title fully captures. Small moments alone help her reset.

Joyce believes women can have both career and family, but only with partners and workplaces that genuinely share the load.

Her Wonder Gap lies between family support and the responsibilities she silently carries.

Gen Z · 21 years old

Carson is a student and digital growth strategist living between cultures, expectations and emerging independence. His family wanted to give him opportunity and a secure future, yet many choices were made for him, leaving him unsure of his own voice.

Encouragement sometimes felt like criticism, and support did not always create connection. During mental health struggles, Carson also questioned whether AI's constant reassurance truly helps young people grow. He believes support should include honesty, responsibility and challenge.

His Wonder Gap lies between the opportunities his family wanted to provide and the freedom, agency and self-trust he needed to develop.

Mia Kam
Gen Z · 14 years old · Australian Born Chinese

Mia is growing up with different ideas about discipline, privacy and trust from those of earlier generations. She sees that strict rules, forced study and constant monitoring do not always create responsible young people; they can instead lead to secrecy, lost motivation and emotional distance.

In her own home, being trusted to make choices has helped her take greater responsibility for study and feel safe being honest with her mum. She believes technology can help or harm depending on how it is used.

Mia's Wonder Gap lies between parents' desire to protect children and young people's need for trust, honesty and space to become self-led.
