Can you believe that summer is always here? Yet another season and a new reason to look at and update our skincare routine. Summer in Australia is synonymous with beaches, sunshine, and suntans. In the skincare world, summer means a greater exposure to harmful UV rays and an increase in daily SPF products.  Take this time to learn some of the best skincare tips for the sunny season. Here is how to do your summer skincare routine for clear and glowing skin.

  1. Check your SPF

Your first line of attack for clear and glowing skin, is your best line of defence. Make sure that your 50 SPF sunscreen is within date and part of your daily skincare routine. If you can, wear hats and long sleeves on the beach. Even if it may be very tempting to tan all summer long. UV radiation has been found to be the primary cause for aging skin, so if you want to keep your skin looking younger, keep it out of the sun!

  1. Lightweight moisturiser

Moisturised skin will appear soft and supple and have a stronger line of defence against bacteria and irritation. Pick a lightweight moisturiser to not overload your skin. In the summer, you may find yourself sweating more, so a breathable formula will be your best friend. Moisturised skin not only appears healthier, but also helps it heal skin issues. Niacinamide is also known as vitamin b3. Just like all vitamin bs in our body, this one plays a key role in ensuring proper function. When applied topically, Vitamin b3 protects the skin by helping to restore the skin barrier. It helps soothe the skin, relieve dryness and has long since been connected to helping acne eczema, rosacea, and skin discolouration. Add a niacinamide solution to your daily skincare routine. This ingredient helps keep your skin tone even, blemish free, and lighten sunspots. It is important to be mindful when using it and going out in the sun. Always ensure to apply your sunscreen to protect your sensitive facial skin from sunburn.

  1. AHA acid

The Alpha hydroxy acid is a key ingredient in products targeted to decrease sunspots, provide anti-aging properties, and improve skin clarity.
